Aah! Bisto...

Will Breakfast Champion 2023-11-12

TLDR version: Three varieties of Bisto, three varieties of Colman's sauces, two Reggae Reggae sauces, and good old Branston Pickle! Plus, some great Burger Buns!
All now on our store!

We're in the middle of one of our regular avalanches of new products currently. With our Limited Edition Irish Pork & Stout Sausages already flying off the shelves, a whole raft of great stuff (from Spring Chickens and Sliced Roast Beef all the way to Cereals and Pop Tarts) in our 'What's New for Spring?' article, one of the best cups of tea you're likely to find...well, anywhere, and with our Doner Kebab Meat coming over the horizon (but not here quite yet). Plus, all the way back in January, we added the ever popular proper British Pork Pies and (oi oi) Saveloys to the store.

You'd think we were all done, but you'd be very very wrong.

We've not long taken delivery of some real game changers in terms of your sauce game. From gravies to condiments for roast meats, and a couple of other things besides.
Three Bistos

Aah! Bisto, Bisto, Bisto! That's three whole Bistos, right there. And by coincidence that's exactly how many varieties of Bisto we currently have on our shelves!

We've got the classic original red Bisto, obvs, and the slightly more leftfield chicken variety (perfect for chicken based meals), but the one I'm most worked up about is the Bisto Chip Shop Curry Sauce Mix! Time to get in some saveloys and chip shop sausages, and bust out the deep fat fryer for some homemade chip action (if you're of the 'northern' persuasion' you can read this last sentence after the "original red Bisto" bit).

Mushy Peas by themselves, yep. Beside chips, yep.
On chips? Pffft...
(My wife just looked at this screen and, pointing at the 'chips and peas', said "What the hell is that? It looks like vomit!" 对。)

Three Colman's

You've bought yourself a nice piece of Aussie Beef Topside, or some Aussie Lamb Shoulder, or even a lovely bit of British Pork Loin, and now you're wondering where to get some delicious condiments to compliment all that juicy meat. Well, as of this week, look no further!

Brilliant Bramley Apple Sauce for pork, hearty* Horseradish Sauce for beef, and 'mazing Mint Sauce for all your lamb needs. All from my personal favourite of all the British sauce makers, Colman's of Norwich.

*You'd be surprised how few H prefixed superlatives there are.

Two Levi Roots'

Easily the best thing to come out of the reality TV genre are these great sauces from the ever likeable Levi Roots! For those who think their standard ketchups and brown sauces are missing that chilli kick, these are for you!

And they also come with a theme tune to set that Caribbean scene good and proper.

The one & only Branston's

When I was a kid we had a big jar of Branston Pickle in our cupboard for years and years. Not sure who bought it, but noone in my family seemed to eat it. I saw it sitting there for years, daring me to try it, but I resisted, my childlike taste buds not ready for this distinctly adult thrill.

Until, one summer day, whilst engaged in making cheese and Marmite sandwiches, a friend of mine spotted it hidden at the back and proceeded to pop the lid and add some on top of the sliced cheese! 'Madness!' I cried.

Thirty odd years on I look back at that callow youth and forgive him the pickleless years he inflicted upon my person, and simply rejoice that his head was turned on that fateful summer day.

Oh my, look at that...

Which is a roundabout way of saying 'buy yourselves a jar of Branston's Original Pickle from our store right now!'

Burger Buns

We've been dealing in quality burgers for a good while now. First of all we had Aussie Beef Burgers, and last year we added Minted Aussie Lamb Burgers and Turkey Burgers to our repertoire. But one question that we kept getting asked on our WeChat customer service accounts (WeChatID 'breakfastchampion' or 'ningbobreakfast') was 'Do you have burger buns?' Well now we can change the answer to that question to a resounding 'YES!' We've been working on the recipe for a while now, and we're finally at the point where we're ready to release them to the world! Perfect timing really, with Chinese spring (which is comparable to British summer really) just around the corner, and the hot coals itching to get out.

I still find it hard not to call them 'batches' if I'm honest, but so long as they aren't 'cobs' I'm happy to compromise.

And we've also added buns to our great Cheeseburger and Bacon Cheeseburger sets! Welcome to our one stop burger shop!
